 Lights and siren!
Well a little word on our POV's. We all like to add the fun stuff when we get our vehicle permits. That little red sticker that says you can run lights and a siren. Well a heads up for all of you. People DO NOT SEE OR WANT TO HEAR US!!!!! The other afternoon I was responding to a tractor/trailer roll-over on rout 50 and Rodgers Rd. I respond down Rodgers Rd. every time we get a call so I knew I would be first on seen. The Rescue Local indicated entrapment. I was running my massive light bar hanging in my windshield and hammering the siren as I stoped at the intersection. I saw the driver of the tractor/trailer walking my way. Even he saw the lights and heard my siren. As I reached for my radio mic. to call Minneral Co. and our Rescue Eng. to inform them the driver was out of the tractor. I see a pick-up entering the intersection very slowly. Well the driver of the pick-up liked looking at the tractor/trailer roll-over better than the road and my POV ahead of him and BANG!!! He ran into the front of my POV with the lights flashing away and the siren wailing down!!! Crap!!!!! Well no one was hurt and I was able to treat the driver of the roll-over but darn my truck!! So as you see you can have the most lights, the loudest siren and they still will run into you! We need to be the ones to look out for them. Also run your POV with the utmost due regard for the drivers around you. Other drivers sometime freak out when they see us coming and sometimes they can careless. The morel to the story is this even sitting still with the light and siren running some people will not think to look were they are going so you have to. Good luck out there and be safe. E.

 Re: Lights and siren!
Very Well put and an excellent post Safety begins with YOU !!! cause the other guy sure is not looking out for you...I am extremely glad my friend was not hurt in the mishap and other than some minor damage to his vehicle he made home to a loving family. Everyone Please remember safety first and always be aware of your surroundings you never know when they might be coming right at you...
